Petrographic analyses and flow studies are used to identify mechanisms of formation damage and to design non-damaging drilling, completion and stimulation systems for sensitive reservoirs. The first step is the definition of possible causes of formation damage such as clay swelling, fines migration, acid sensitivity, water blockage etc.
